Jose Juan Ramirez Jr. was elected to the LISD Board of Trustees on November 8, 2022. Mr. Ramirez and his wife, Candy Jacqueline Ramirez have five children, Karina Rodriguez, Roberto R. Rodriguez Jr., Jose Juan Ramirez III, Juanita Jacqueline Ramirez, Joselyn Janell Ramirez, granddaughter Kendra N. Lucio, and grandson Roberto Lucio III.

He is the proud son of Juan and Yolanda Ramirez, and one of three siblings: Zulma (Alex) Carrillo, Linda G. Ramirez, and Manuel (Cindy) Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez is an alumnus of Laredo ISD, having attended three District-operated schools: Sanchez/Ochoa Elementary School, L.J. Christen Middle School, before graduating as a junior in 1992 from Raymond and Tirza Martin High School. He proceeded to extend his educational studies by attending Laredo Community College and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in 1996. His involvement with the district began in 2010, while employed as a Teacher Aide at Lamar Middle School and proceeding as an Attendance Officer at Cigarroa High School.

Mr. Ramirez then served as Campus Coordinator for Communities in Schools at CHS before transferring to his alma mater, Martin High School. Mr. Ramirez currently serves as a Juvenile Court Coordinator, Court Interpreter, and Liaison for LISD and United Independent School District with the Webb County Court at Law #1 with Honorable Judge Hugo D. Martinez. In 1997 he started working with the Webb County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (Adult Probation). 

As a concerned and dedicated citizen of Laredo for the past 23 years, he has devoted his time by becoming an involved community member and coaching baseball, football, basketball, being a parent volunteer, Football Booster Club member, band parent member, Tigerrette parent member, and currently an LPAC and District Educational Improvement Committee member. As the school board representative for District 1, Mr. Ramirez represents Farias Elementary School, Santa Maria Elementary School, Leyendecker Elementary School, Christen Middle School, and Martin High School.
